Man And Society Paragraph

[Points: Beginning of social system - society protects individuals - duties towards the society.

Man is a social animal. Primitive men in small groups settled down to live together in large number when they took to agriculture. Gradually a system with some conventions and orders came into existence and society was formed. A man can hardly live a normal life without any social environment. In society he finds opportunities for forming friendships and giving expression to other forms of intellectual and emotional stimulus. The society is practically an institution that protects its members. It also develops and determines the course of their daily lives to a great extent. Thus, in a society, an individual enjoys certain rights granted by the society and also protected by it. He also has some obligatory duties towards it. The society in the form of State protects his freedom of thought, speech, religious activities and lawful action, if these do not interfere with others' rights. Rights and duties are however reciprocal. An individual has certain duties and obligations towards the society he lives in. The society lays down the norms of life with its ethical values. An individual abiding by these social laws develops himself and his society.
